About Me

How do I run my paint parties?
Someone may contact me wanting to arrange their own private paint party in my studio, or at a location they choose or I plan a party open to the public and I either advertise a paint party at my studio, or at a local restaurant. People will contact me if they like the project and I will sign them up.
Before the class I will draw on the outline of the project we are going to paint. I do this for everyone as I always say, I teach painting and not drawing. 😊
Everything is included in your class fee:
- canvas (usually 16 x 20”) or an alternate surface we have chosen for that particular project
- Paint
- Brushes
- Water containers
- Paper towels
- Paint palettes
- Table top easels
- Tablecloths
- Aprons
- Tables and chairs if necessary
- An instructor with a great sense of humour and an abundance of knowledge

How I started painting!
I took my first paint class in 1985 and fell in love with painting.  I, at that point, could not even draw a stick man, but learned very soon that patterns would be traced onto your surface and this made it so much easier!
I took many classes over a couple decades from hundreds of different instructors from all around the world, and I learned tips, tricks, and techniques from each individual instructor. I’ve combined all of that knowledge with some of my own, and I’ve come up with my very own unique painting and teaching techniques.
I started teaching quite regularly in 1994 and this was mostly done on wood surfaces. I have since then taught over 7500 people and enjoy painting, and instructing just as much now as I did almost 40 years ago.  I actually find it quite soothing and therapeutic now.
I have painted with watercolor, acrylic, and oils, but my favourite definitely is acrylic, because not only is it fast drying but you’re able to correct errors easily by just painting over some thing you do not like and change it instantly. This makes it very easy for new painters to complete projects that they are happy with and proud of.
In 2016, I was in a restaurant, and I noticed some ladies holding something up and having pictures taken. I put two and two together and realized they were painting in the restaurant. I looked on the website of the establishment and realized it was a “paint night “ And it was a two hour event. I thought about it briefly, but then I realize there is absolutely no way I could teach somebody how to do a painting in two hours as I had taught 3-8 hour workshops . About six months later a coworker informed me that she had been to a paint night and showed me her painting. I took one look at it and knew I could do better and that’s when I started a new journey into paint parties.
How I instruct paint parties!
My paint parties are quite different in that they are about three hours long and maybe even longer depending on the detail, but I want people to create something that they’re proud of so we do take a little bit of extra time then some others.
At present, I teach at a couple of local restaurants. I have a studio as well, and I also am mobile, and I will come to your home, your place of work, your church, your community center, your favorite local restaurant, or pretty much anywhere else where we can gather.
The main part of my business at present is paint night parties.   These are mostly completed on canvas, and on occasion, a wood surface such as barn board or live edge!
In my studio, I also have workshops on giant farmhouse clocks, either 24 or 30” round, porch leaners which are 4 to 6 feet tall, doormats, 2 x 3‘ rustic Canadian flags, greeting card workshops, Wire wrapping of Seaglass to make necklace pendants, Seaglass art, which is 5 x 7“ framed artwork, and soon I will be offering painting of ceramics and stoneware, which is food safe.
